Technical Records Specialist 1 – State of Idaho – Caldwell, ID

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Division of Behavioral Health is currently seeking a Technical Records Specialist 1 (Limited Service). This position requires a personable and professional individual with excellent customer service skills, detail-oriented, self-motivated and the desire to work in a team environment.

This position reviews and processes documents and related items; evaluates and explains compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and policies to customers; maintains a computerized record system; performs records maintenance and monitors for compliance. This is a limited service position. Length of limited service appointments are determined by the availability of funds such as grants, alternative funding sources and/or timeframes such as pilot projects, alternative funding sources or program termination.

  • Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
  • Experience researching a variety of sources to resolve problems.
  • Experience interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments.
  • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system.
  • Experience using spreadsheet software.

Additional Qualifications: Are not required; however, having the minimum qualifications and the education and/or experience below will increase your score.


  • Experience interacting with customers via telephone and/or in person to identify their service needs and route them to an appropriate person or service to address their concerns.
    Requires at least 6 months of work experience interacting with customers via telephone and/or in person to identify their service needs and route them to an appropriate person or service to address their concerns.

  • Demonstrated work experience obtaining and safeguarding confidential information.
    Requires at least 6 months of work experience assisting the public.

  • Demonstrated work experience working/relating with diverse groups of people.
    Requires at least 6 months of volunteer or work experience assisting the public.

  • Demonstrated time management and communication skills.
    Requires 6 months working in an office or educational setting.
