Intern – Communications, Media Relations & Social Media – Committee of 100 – Remote

Location: New York City

Reports to: Director of Communications


Key tasks that you will work with the Director of Communications on: (but not limited to)

  • Social Media Engagement – Track and help grow Committee of 100’s social media accounts – including developing social media copy
  • External Events Strategy – Research, create and source a database to external events that are relevant to the organization’s membership and mission;
  • Media Pitching – crafting media pitches and proactively engaging reporters on key issues;
  • Research – documenting, tracking and developing databases of key AAPI news and information;
  • Other tasks and assignments as needed.


Qualifications

  • Current College Undergraduate Student or Graduate Student
  • Knowledge of social media, including trends and verbiage on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to take direction and work in a remote environment
  • Discretion and a professional demeanor; sound judgment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Highly organized; keen attention to detail
  • The ability to work on internal communications and project management tools like Asana and Slack!
  • You are passionate about communications and care about learning the ins and outs about becoming a communications professional


Schedule/Compensation:

  • Candidates should be available to work a minimum of 15-20 hours a week (part-time).
  • Unpaid internship

Additional Information:

This position will be 10-12 weeks in length. At this time the position is remote. This is an unpaid internship; however, the position can be used towards school credit where applicable.

Each student’s application and needs for course credit will be reviewed on an individual basis.


The anticipated start date for this position is June 7, 2021. The start date is negotiable based on the student’s Summer course schedule/other work schedule.
