SECTION I: JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: Counselor

Reports to: The Executive Director

Department: Clinical Services

SECTION II: SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION

The general purpose of this position is to provide quality clinical behavioral health care to consumers using the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model.

SECTION III: JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Provides direct clinical treatment to individuals, couples and families using the EFT model or methods compatible with the EFT model
  • Conducts EFT assessment in accordance with the EFT model.
  • Implements a problem conceptualization, creates a treatment plan, and facilitates interventions in accordance with the EFT model.
  • Maintains clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote supervisor review and feedback, that demonstrate compliance with both the EFT model and guidelines set forth by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) and the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE).
  • Video records all sessions as required by The Executive Director for supervision purposes
  • Participates in live sessions as required by The Executive Director for supervision purposes
  • Attends and comes prepared to weekly group supervision sessions facilitated by an AZBBHE approved supervisor.
  • Participates in all other EFT training and supervision activities required by The Executive Director.

SECTION IV: JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/EXPERIENCE:

Must be at least 21 years of age. Requires a master’s degree in a Behavioral Health related subject area (including, but not limited to Marriage and Family Therapy, must be licensed with the AZBBHE or actively pursuing licensure. Behavioral Health Tech, LAC, LAMFT.

SPECIAL EQUIPEMENT/SKILLS:

General computer skills

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and modality of the consumers served in the department.

SECTION V: JOB SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

Must attend EFT externship, and EFT core skills training (Module 1-4)

Must maintain an active license with the AZBBHE & Meet AZDHS standards

Must attend weekly supervision

Must attend any additional assigned trainings or meetings as requested by The Executive Director

Must maintain current CPR/First Aid Certifications

Must maintain current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

WORK CONTACT GROUP:

Communicates with the consumers, medical staff, counselors, other departmental management, community organizations, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all necessary conditions and circumstances.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

Actively participates in the Quality Management System of AZRI by identifying, notifying and participating in determining and implementing resolutions to problems that may arise.

Assures that problems are addressed by the appropriate personnel and that standards are met and that quality is obtained and maintained.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND HAZARDS:

Works in offices located within ARI.

Moves intermittently during working hours.

Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.

Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease as counselors are working closely with consumers.

Pay: $56.00 – $64.00 per hour
