Clinical Educator – Emergency Department – CRMH – Carilion Clinic – Roanoke, VA

This position will support Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Performing under the direct supervision of the Emergency Department Unit Director(s), the ED Unit Educator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all orientation and continuing education programs for internal personnel. The ED Unit Educator will coordinate the orientation of all new staff members. The ED Unit Educator will oversee the activities of the Unit Preceptors. The ED Unit Educator will also provide daily education on new equipment, processes and policies. These responsibilities will be carried out with the input from and the collaboration with the ED management team, to include administration, HR Education Consultant and the unit preceptors.

Education: BSN required, MSN preferred.

Experience: 5 years of nursing experience

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: R.N. licensed in Virginia. AHA BLS-HCP Certification required. BLS Instructor preferred.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must have knowledge/experience in nursing principles and theory, skills and applying adult learning principles, assessment and evaluation skills, skills in interpreting complex data, knowledge of evidence-based nursing, and Virginia nursing licensure requirements.

Must have strong oral and written communication skills, project management skills, time management skills, organizational skills, training skills, customer service skills.

Must be able to think critically, be creative and have the ability to take initiative to improve processes.

Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, yet also function well on a team.
