Plans and directs activities related to nutritional care of patients. Interprets physician’s orders in terms of individualized daily meal patterns and menus according to therapeutic needs.
Utilizes knowledge of various disease states as they relate to food intake and nutritional requirements under varying types of therapy. Considers behavioral, social and psychological implications of acute and chronic illness as well as patient’s social and financial status while meeting medical requirements for nutritional therapy. Provides nutritional education for prevention and treatment. Works with nutritional manager and dietary staff on diets, menu, and recipes.
Writes diet orders as needed.
Conducts nutrition assessments. Plans, provides and evaluates effects of nutritional care to patients
Provides nutrition education and counseling to patients and/or concerned others. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
Advances competence as a practitioner in the profession of dietetics.
Demonstrates knowledge of hospital computer system and maintains accurate record of activities
Attends all departmental staff meetings
Reports to: Chief Clinical Dietician
