Nursing Director – William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital – Weston, WV

Nature of Work

Assists the chief nurse officer (DON) in creating an environment that ensures safe and competent nursing care in an in-patient, psychiatric setting working with adult, geriatric, adolescent and forensic populations. Shares in administrative responsibility for nursing standards and practice and directs hospital nursing activities within the context of hospital policies and procedures. Participates in strategic planning and improvement initiatives, provides leadership, guidance and mentoring to both clinical and non-clinical staff; and ensures effective utilization of nursing staff in the accomplishment of quality patient care. Assists in providing oversight for direct care nursing staff under the direction of the DON and medical director. Supervises other nursing staff as required. Pre- employment drug screening is required. Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in agency and bureau policies. Mandatory overtime is an essential part of this position. This is a tobacco free campus. Applicant must successfully complete a background check. Other duties as assigned. Special Hiring Rate: $82,680.00

Minimum Qualifications

Training & Experience:
Successful completion of an associate degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university or a diploma nursing program and seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse, including three (3) years in an administrative capacity or in supervising other registered professional nurses.

OR

Baccalaureate degree in nursing from a regionally accredited four (4) year college or university and four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse, including two (2) years in an administrative capacity or in supervising other registered professional nurses.

OR
Master’s degree in nursing or nursing administration or in public health or public health administration from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse, including one (1) year in an administrative capacity or in supervising other registered professional nurses.

OR
Baccalaureate degree in the health sciences or behavioral sciences from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a registered professional nurse, including one (1) year in an administrative capacity or in supervising other registered professional nurses.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Current license or temporary permit to practice as a registered professional nurse.

Pay: Up to $82,680.00 per year
