Director, Audit Services – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System – Sarasota, FL

Job Summary

Responsible for identifying the System’s financial and operational risk areas, and to provide advisory services to help senior management effectively manage those risks, providing high quality professional day-to-day management of internal audit engagements and special projects including organizing and utilizing resources effectively to complete assignments, as well as, reviewing and appraising the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting, financial and other operating controls in performing financial, operational and IT audits, and promotes efficient and effective internal controls. This position also serves as the Administrative Representative on the Audit Committee of the Board, and is designated as the chief audit executive reporting functionally to the Board of the Sarasota County Public Hospital District.

Required Qualifications

• Require a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance.
• Require Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Public Accountant.
• Require a minimum of five (5) years of management experience in healthcare auditing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer advanced skills in computer and software use (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, database, data analysis, presentations, automated work papers) to prepare, document, and present analyses, test results, summaries, memoranda, and reports.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and operations to determine the accuracy of information, compliance with established policies, practices, laws and regulations.
• Prefer ability to interact comfortably with all levels of management and the board.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of auditing principles, techniques and standards.
• Prefer demonstrated sound judgment and ability to act independently.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to build strong relationships.
• Prefer demonstrated effective written, oral, listening and negotiation skills.
• Prefer demonstrated interpersonal, team building and customer service skills.
• Prefer a minimum of three (3) years of public accounting audit experience.
• Prefer Certified Internal Auditor designation.
