Maintenance Technician, Pedro – Abode Services – United States

Abode Services, :one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Maintenance Technician. :The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing repair and maintenance of equipment and work assignments/priorities in retail/commercial offices.

How You Make an Impact:

  • Responsible for performing or coordinating with outside vendors, ensuring that work is performed safely, within code compliance and to performance specifications.
  • Complete paperwork and follow through as needed for current work assignments.
  • Control and maintain an adequate inventory of parts.
  • Utilize handheld devices and software systems/mobile apps to create, schedule, update labor hours, materials, and close work orders/assignments and update management and superiors of repair status, work assignments, problems or safety concerns.
  • Responsible for general maintenance and building quality standards and code compliance for all office/retail spaces within the portfolio.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on furniture, fixtures and equipment according to company and site specific procedures to ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure and oversee the cleanliness and maintain grounds, parking lots, fencing and building facilities.
  • Perform safety, vehicle and building inspections according to company and site specific procedures.
  • Communicate with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing regarding work assignment updates and scheduling.
  • Dismantle/assemble, inspect, or install/remove furniture, fixtures and equipment for new office spaces, relocations, or rehab projects.
  • Taking pride in work.

  • Project a professional image and demeanor.
  • Understand, apply, and comply with all company standards.
  • Ability to answer after-hour emergency calls during on-call rotation.

How You Meet the Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Commercial or Residential Maintenance.
  • Reliable Transportation, valid and current CA Driver’s License and Insurance are required.
  • Experience and knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Experience in repairing sheetrock, doorframes, door locks, and cabinetry.
  • Experience in troubleshooting a wide variety of office/commercial related problems including appliances, building systems and minor electrical issues.
  • Experience with working both independently and at times under the direction of facility collaborators.
  • Experience with quality control, health and safety regulations as they pertain to performing repairs.
