HR Generalist – G.L.O.M. A.R.F. – Yolo, CA

POSITION SUMMARY OVERVIEW

The HR Generalist will perform HR generalist activities and assist the growing HR department in day-to-day operations. This person will initially provide support to the department by onboarding new hires and conducting audits on employee files for our San Joaquin region. As G.L.O.M. continues to grow, you will have the opportunity to expand your existing HR knowledge and skills.

G.L.O.M. is a non-profit community organization, providing mental health services to men and women who have come from backgrounds of mental/behavioral illnesses, incarceration, homelessness, or substance abuse. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform orientations, onboarding, and updating new hire records
  • Conduct HR audits to ensure HR records are accurate and up to date
  • Coordinate and facilitate COVID-19 testing for clients and employees
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Support the HR Manager with educating employees on company policies
  • Assist with recruiting such as tracking job openings, posting ads, and sourcing candidates
  • Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Coordinate and plan HR events such as company career fairs
  • Respond to routine inquiries from employees via telephone and email in a timely manner
  • Prepare and submit state unemployment or worker’s compensation paperwork
  • Update the benefits portal and help facilitate annual open enrollment events
  • Maintain confidentiality of all employee records and other sensitive information
  • Research current and new employment laws
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide appropriate feedback to supervisors
  • Assist with payroll processing as needed
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all employees, clients, and vendors
  • Administrative duties such as filing and making copies
  • Assist with misc. HR projects and initiatives as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years’ Human Resources experience. Non-profit experience working in adult residential facilities is a plus
  • Experience with 403(b) administration
  • In depth knowledge of CA labor laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with Paychex or HRIS systems
  • Experience processing payroll is a plus
  • Comfortable presenting oneself in community settings
  • Recruitment experience, including strategic planning, sourcing, conducting and scheduling interviews, negotiating offers, conducting reference checks, and drafting offer letters
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in an often-ambiguous environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups
  • MS Office Suite proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriately work with sensitive information/documents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with superior levels of professionalism
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, and TB Test
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position may require the use of a personal vehicle.

Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending and lifting occasionally up to 50 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, food, water, etc.)

  • Livermore (HQ): Initial training period
  • San Joaquin Area: After training period
