Patient Care:
Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them
to the exam room
Provide exam drapes / slippers, as needed. Assist patient’s with proper
positioning for the examination and/or treatment
Obtain patient’s height, weight, and blood pressure in accordance with Meaningful
Use standards (once per reporting period, or more as directed by physician)
Document patient’s chief complaint
Update medication list and allergies in the system
Verify PCP, referring physician, pharmacy, and lab are in the system
Ensure patient’s family history, social history, surgical history, and past medical
history are inputted and correct
Document patient’s HPI and ROS in the system, along with the patient’s last PCP visit in the assessment portion of the exam
Make sure the patient’s last assessment date and PQRS date are in the system
Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during
examinations, preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests,
disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing medical instruments; administering
medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed, removing
sutures, and changing dressings.
Assist patient to and from whirlpool rooms, x-ray areas, and restrooms
Perform x-rays, ensuring insurance allows us to do so
Apply leg casts, DME, and ambulatory aids while explaining do’s and don’ts
procedures and how to care for the items
Measure patient’s feet for PQRS standards
Cast and fit custom orthotics, following physician procedures, ensuring proper
paperwork is completed
Prep patient, supplies, and room for procedures
Draw injections for the physicians
Apply dressings for wound care
‘Finish’ the patient’s feet (ie. Sanding, clip toenails, etc.) following physician guidelines
Miscellaneous:
Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial
information.
Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed
changes.
Maintain the integrity of the legal medical record by documenting in complete
sentences, using proper grammar and spelling while utilizing only approved
abbreviations.
Encourage patient to use the patient portal
Inventory and order office/medical supplies
Restock exam rooms
Assists with training new/transferred employees
Work the Athena clinical inbox daily, ensuring appointment requests, patient
cases, orders, messages, and documents are handled in a prompt and
appropriate manner.
Works the Athena workflow dashboard daily, making sure appointments are
scheduled / rescheduled, eligibility is checked, and no-show appointments are
charged and cancelled.
Compliance required of OSHA guidelines, HIPAA, and patient safety guideline
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Any other duties as assigned
