CDL Shuttle Driver (Class A) – Georgia Nut Company – Skokie, IL

ROLE SUMMARY

GNC has two primary locations, the production plant and the distribution center, which are located roughly two miles apart. The CDL Shuttle Driver will be responsible for driving a semi-truck between locations in order to transport raw materials, equipment, product, etc. The role will interface directly with both the production and warehouse teams to ensure all necessary materials are accounted for and transported safely and timely.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive company provided Semi Tractor and trailers
  • Transport loads to and from the plant and distribution center
  • Comply with all DOT rules, laws, and regulations
  • Complete DOT log form, either electronic or paper log
  • Pull shuttles from dock to dock, and follow all GNC docking procedures
  • Comply with all GNC policies and procedures
  • Take active role in safety, promote and encourage safety practices
  • Provide feedback to upper management for continuous improvement
  • Maintain tractor cleanliness inside and out, review before rotating with other drivers
  • During downtimes, assist in production plant and warehouse


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma/GED highly preferred
  • CDL Class A license and DOT medical card required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English required
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to work weekends during peak season and/or overtime when needed
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships across departments
