The U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) participates in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Demonstration Project (PDP). The DK-02 pay band is equivalent to the GS-05, Step 01 through GS-08, Step 10. In keeping with the Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees earning a salary that falls within this pay band, may not receive an immediate pay increase (promotion) if appointed to this position. Future pay increases within the pay band will be accomplished through the pay for performance management system.

This is a contingent (TERM) appointment, NTE 4 years. Individuals selected for this term position may be eligible for conversion to career-conditional appointment at a later date. To be converted, the employee must (1) have been selected for the contingent position under competitive procedures, (2) must have served 2 years of substantially continuous service in the contingent appointment, (3) be selected under merit promotion procedures for the permanent position, and (4) have a current rating of “B” or better.

Employees hired for more than one year, under the contingent employee appointment authority are given term appointments in the competitive service for no longer than five years. The MRMC Commander is authorized to extend a contingent/term appointment one additional year.

Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Experience performing routine administrative and clerical functions such as filing documentation, providing guidance, and preparing a variety of documents (2) Experience using personal computers and office automation applications to compose, proof, and edit a variety of documents (3) Experience managing proprietary considerations regarding confidential documents and (4) Experience reconciling purchase card records and purchases and property book records (e.g. hand receipts).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DK-01/GS-04).

OR

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.
Add the two percentages.
