JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Behavioral Health Counselor
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Non-exempt, Part-time, up to 25 hours/week
Rate: $25-28/hr
Position Profile
The Behavioral Health Counselor is responsible for providing direct counseling services to persons who qualify for Open Arms Free Clinic services (no health insurance, 200% Federal Poverty Level, and Walworth County resident). The Behavioral Health Counselor will provide high quality outpatient behavioral health evaluations, treatment planning, and treatment sessions in a collaborative medical care environment. Licensed professional supervision is provided onsite.
Accountabilities
1. Provide initial diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning for behavioral health clients
2. Establish strong therapeutic relationships with clients to ensure engagement in the therapeutic process and continuation of services to achieve optimal client outcomes
3. Work collaboratively with integrated behavioral health and medical team
4. Utilize evidence-based best practices with knowledge of Trauma Informed interventions and possess specialized training in treatment of PTSD
5. Provide evidence based best practice treatment, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for Anxiety, Depression, and Mood Disorders
6. Provide AODA evaluations and make recommendations to appropriate community programs; and provide in-house AODA counseling for clients who would benefit
7. Provide effective services based on intensity of client’s needs, including short-term counseling and long term counseling for those who are deemed appropriate.
8. Maintain caseload of therapy clients including high risk patients and clients with substance abuse concerns.
9. Practice with cultural competence and engage in ongoing training regarding cultural competence and inclusive practices.
10. Identify additional mental health concerns in the population served and develop new strategies to meet the needs of patients, with possibilities including: group counseling, family, marital counseling, AODA counseling, community education topics, and literature/written resources
Education and Experience
Bilingual in English and Spanish required
Active Wisconsin Professional Counseling license, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or counseling psychologist
Five years of experience in clinical behavioral health services
Maintains professional liability malpractice insurance for scope of licenses
Maintains current CPR for Healthcare provider

- Ability to communicate effectively and relate to individuals from various economic, social, and cultural backgrounds and vulnerable populations (including children, adults with disabilities, and foreign-born patients).

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour

All patients and staff are required to wear face covering. Telehealth options are available for any patient willing to maintain counseling appointments while in quarantine.
Education:
- Bachelor’s (Preferred)
Experience:
- Clinical counseling: 5 years (Required)
Language:
- fluent Spanish (Required)
License/Certification:
