Job Summary:

The duty of the Compounding Cell Tech is to accurately and consistently prepare and convert weighed raw materials into properly and efficiently mixed compounded materials from which our various products Are produced which meet our required customer specifications. Team members must have the ability to work with other team members in a cell concept rotating through multiple job functions through the day following a playbook of optimal performance. Ideal candidates are quick thinking and confident to ensure consistent processing and foresight to know the next task required. It is the responsibility of this individual to ensure that product/customer specifications are followed always.

It is also in the responsibility of this position to ensure the site’s daily performance metrics are met and maintained. The use of good housekeeping practices will be required to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe operational area to produce the expected quality of product established by West. This is a 2nd shift position with some overtime based on business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve lab approved ingredients in preparation to make our various product formulations; documenting and recording the ingredients obtained to make each of the various compounds to be produced.
  • Prepare, identify and deliver these approved ingredients to each area/stage of the production process; using any required assisting and/or measuring devices required to move items or check ingredients for conformity to standards.
  • Assemble all required materials according to our specific product formulation using the area forklift or other material handling devices as required to assemble these items.
  • Operate all required equipment to mix, form, shape and/or cut these prepared materials for further product processing.
  • Weigh up and document formulas that do not meet specifications.
  • Follow all documented work instructions and procedures as required to make these compounds.
  • Assist, guide and/or train employees new to the compounding area as required.
  • Keep the compounding area and all equipment in this area clean and in orderly condition.
  • Follow all corporate and site policies, practices, procedures and S.O.I.’s without failure or exception.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.
Education and Experience:

  • Experience: 0-3 Years of cGMP Manufacturing Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to operate a lift truck for material handling
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to use normal tools of the trade
  • Must possess an acute attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Must be willing and able to work as a team member
  • Make general decisions within authorized job responsibilities.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly stands, walks, talks, and hears
  • Frequent bending and twisting as required by the job
  • Pull mixed materials from the mill (involving pull forces of ~ 50 – 60 lbs. or less)
  • Frequent above shoulder height work to pull mixed materials from the mill and put it into the hopper
  • Frequent stretching and arm extension work on mill
  • Frequent bilateral grip/grasp and manual dexterity work required
  • Lifting of objects weighing 50 lbs. or less
  • Frequent bending and twisting as required by the job
  • Must also be able to tolerate industrial odors, smells and dust or powders on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to gown into required clothing for a controlled room
  • Must follow and comply with all Company and Plant policies, procedure (SOIs), rules and State and Federal laws
