Essential Duties

  • Grants and Contract Management
    • Assist in identifying sources of non-dilutive funding (NGOs, Federal Government, and other entities) and communicating such opportunities to leadership.
    • Prepare and submit a complete proposal package to identified solicitations and complying with scientific, administrative, and budgetary requirements)
    • Responsible for crafting the research strategy with relevant partners in R&D and others while ensuring that the project aligns with company goals and objectives.
    • Post-award management of grants/contracts including regular updates and progress reports to grantors.
    • Ability to distill progress on R&D and manufacturing and independently and effectively communicate progress to grantor
    • Stay abreast of and interprets sponsor’s rules and regulations and terms and conditions of specific grants, including those of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), BARDA, and Department of Defense.
    • Collaborate with Program office such that grant/contract priorities and timelines are met
  • Managing External Partners
    • Apply knowledge of biological sciences to translate medical, scientific, and technical language into easily understood concepts.
    • Work with the marketing and regulatory arms of Visby to identify potential strategic alliances and partnerships with key academic and commercial entities to expand and cement the Visby brand.
    • Ability to represent Visby at high-level meetings with Legislative and Executive branches of the Federal Government.

Education and/or Experience

  • Advanced Degree (PhD) in related areas; or equivalent combined experience and training.
  • Minimum 2-year work experience working for or with the Federal Government in biomedical or health sciences
  • Demonstrated experience with complex, multi-project, multi-million grant proposal development.

Other Qualifications

  • Advanced program planning and management of projects.
  • Experience with grant management tracking systems and databases, experience utilizing web portals for grant submission to various agencies.
  • Advanced skills analyzing information, problems, situations, policies, or procedures to define the problem, need or objective.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate solutions, new program development, alternative choices, and implications for implementation.
  • In-depth experience writing about science for both technical reviewers and the public as well as writing science proposals for government agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Proven ability with writing and submitting grant applications, particularly in large science grants (project type grants with multiple projects and cores).
  • Advanced knowledge of national and international trends in research and experience with research programs.
  • Ability to work independently and build relationships within different verticals across Visby
