Position Description.
-Conducts intakes, assessments, and individual vocational counseling sessions to assist veterans, servicemembers and dependents with educational and career decisions.
-Identifies barriers to education and employment impacting individuals transitioning from the military.
-Administers individual vocational testing, transferable skills analysis, and needs assessments.
-Through face-to-face or tele-counseling sessions, assists individuals with educational exploration, labor market research, and career counseling to determine a suitable training program and vocational goal that aligns with their interests, abilities, and disabilities.
-Documents specific recommendations for vocational planning based on the veteran’s work history, military experience, transferable skills, medical/mental health issues, legal history, level of education and remaining educational benefits.
-Completes detailed reports within specified timeframes outlining recommendations related to personal, vocational, educational, medical and mental health needs.
Required Competencies:
Vocational counseling skills as well as basic vocational evaluation administration and interpretation
Job placement skills (resume development, interview skills training, job search strategies, job referrals)
Knowledge of current local, state and national labor market trends and jobs
Advanced professional writing ability with attention to detail
Strong computer skills including MS Word, Internet navigation, email, and tele-counseling platforms
Ability to analyze, research information, make connections and draw conclusions
Knowledge of local education and training programs
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to set priorities, work independently and meet reporting deadlines
Credentials:
Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Career Guidance and Planning, Counseling Psychology, Adult Education, Educational Program Administration, or a closely related counseling discipline.
Preferred: CRC or CVE, vocational counseling experience, and knowledge of VA benefits and services
Required: Federal Background Check Clearance, basic professional liability and automotive insurance.

Pay: $50.00 – $75.00 per hour
