Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Assist oral surgeon with all aspects of patient care including surgeries, consultations and follow-up visits. Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and works as a team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Communication
-Able to explain all aspects of all procedures to any patient when needed
-Review risks, benefits and alternatives of procedures during patient consultation and consent patients for procedure
-Review pre-operative and post-operative instructions with patients
-Return patient phone calls when questions arise prior to or after surgery
-Call patients at the end of the day to check on them or answer questions following surgery
-Call in prescriptions for patients when necessary
Patient Care
-Help doctor perform consultations with patients and be able to answer specific questions about each procedure
-Escort patients to consultation rooms, ensuring they are comfortable
-Assist doctor with all office procedures including IV sedation
-Monitor patient vitals during IV sedation
-Circulate for doctor with all office procedures
-Take radiographs on patients when needed
-Get surgical patients ready for surgery by filling out necessary paperwork and placing monitors
-Assist with documentation of notes in the chart
-Responsible for set-up and break-down of treatment rooms prior to and following patient appointments
Administrative
-Clean and sterilize all surgical equipment
-Help manage inventory of surgical supplies
-Share responsibility with other assistants in calling representatives for medical supply companies and negotiating best rate
-Track medication expiration dates and order new ones as necessary
Required Skills
-Ability to adapt to changing environment and be a flexible/team player
-Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, dentists, team members and vendors
-Ability to filter a vast amount of information and determine appropriate course of action
-Ability to plan and look ahead
-Possesses keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
-Skilled in juggling multiple priorities in a real-time environment
-Proven ability to exercise sound decision-making
-Works with minimal supervision
-Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information
-Commitment to ethical conduct and doing what it takes to ensure that tasks are completed on time
-Solutions-driven and collaborative
QUALIFICATIONS: Prior experience with oral surgery assisting. OMSA or DAANCE certification is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communications skills required.
SALARY: To be determined
Position hours are 8am-5pm. 4-5 days/week
**We have an office in Napa which you may be required to work at 1-2days/week**
