STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER / (3-7 YEARS EXPERIENCE)
Mesa Design Architects/HYDAM Construction Inc. is a highly creative and specialized Design Build team with offices in Thousand Oaks, California engaged in the design and construction of Hospitals, Outpatient Surgical Centers and specialized Healthcare and other types of facilities throughout California. Currently we are seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer to join our growing design and construction support team.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of major building structural systems comprising steel, concrete, masonry and wood and be proficient in conceptualizing and designing such structural systems and components for the aforementioned types of projects, proceeding from concept to detailed construction documents and construction administration. A strong track record of successfully working with teams of A/E professionals on such projects is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications at a minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized engineering school. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-7 years professional experience, preferably in California
- Working knowledge of the latest building codes and standards such as the California Building Codes (CBC), LABC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41 etc.
- Experience and abilities in new construction work as well as assessment, evaluation, modification and retrofit work for existing construction.
- Proficiency acquired through actual project related work in commonly utilized structural analysis and design software packages such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ENERCALC etc. is required
- Experience with Healthcare and OSHPD projects is highly desirable.
- Basic knowledge and skills in AutoCad and Revit software as well as BIM systems is highly desirable in order to effectively work with the project team in-house and with external consultants/contractors. However, full CAD production work is not part of the primary responsibilities of this position.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Job Responsibilities:
Work under the supervision of the Principal Structural Engineer to:
- Perform structural design and analysis tasks using governing codes and standards, engineering methods, commonly used software, analytical and design skills and experience.
- Provide technical support for the team during construction, including site observation, coordination and verification work.
- Assist in obtaining planning and/or building regulations approvals
- Participate in detailed field investigations of existing structures, as required, to enable assessment, evaluation, modification, redesign, investigations including forensics and/or retrofit work.
