ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Reviews staffing plan for his/her shift.
· Assesses Residents and facilitates care for condition changes.
· Receives shift report from previous day/evening/night supervisor.
· Gives supervisor’s report to relieving supervisor.
· Makes general rounds on each unit. Evaluates all residents on resident condition report.
· Remains available for professional and managerial support to each staff nurse.
· Evaluates and analyzes performance of all staff on nursing units.
· Evaluates continually the nursing services rendered on his/her units and directs specific resident care when needed.
· Reports in established meetings with Leadership II.
· Attends LDI workshops as directed.
· Utilizes appropriate resources for inservice programs.
· Communicates with families as needed.
· Obtains supplies from Pharmacy, Laundry and Central Supply Room for resident care as needed.
· Notifies Physician or Manager of Nursing Services/ Care Coordinator of changes in resident condition, receives and transcribes orders and initiates appropriate follow-up.
· Guides staff in appropriate and economical use of supplies, equipment and personnel.
· Completes incident reports with investigative follow-up for incidents occurring on shift, reviews plan of care and makes changes were needed.
· Facilitates complaints and concerns brought to their attention on shift.
· Acts as Command / Incident Manager in time of emergency situation, activating and implementing Emergency Management Plan.
· May interview applicants for nursing supervisors and make hiring recommendations.
· Coaches nursing personnel and interprets policies and procedures and standards of care for staff.
· Disciplines staff as indicated.
· Evaluates nursing policies and practices and recommends changes.
· Assists with appraisals of all nursing personnel performance.
· Logs in and addresses staff absenteeism with Nursing Care Coordinator and Manager of Nursing Services.
· Reviews staffing on a 24 hour basis and adjusts as necessary per acuity.
· Calls staff when needed to meet minimum standards for staffing.
· Participates in conferences, in-house trainings and in-services.
· Participates in Leadership Development
· May be a member or chairperson of standing committees for the improvement of Nursing Service
· Reviews nursing reports from all units.
· Evaluates employee injuries from any department while on duty and takes appropriate action.
· Informs Director of Nursing of appropriate resident/facility concerns.
· Performs other duties as assigned by Management staff
· Participates in committees
· Reliable, dependable and punctual in use of work time.
· Demonstrates initiative and cooperation in professional working relationships.
· Complies with applicable organizational policies and procedures i.e.: mandatory education, health requirement, Human Resource requirements.
· Demonstrates a commitment of quality through participation on improvement teams and identifying opportunities for improvement.
· Works to improve performance relative to the system’s organizational goals.
· Consistently delivers high quality service being responsive to customer needs.
REQUIREMENTS
· Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred; with ten years progressive nursing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Prefer Long Term Care Experience.
· Must have current and valid NYS professional license.

Pay: $24.00 – $30.00 per hour
