DUTIES:
- Greets, screens, schedules, and directs patients to exam rooms.
- Provides a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
- Participates as a member of the health care team to plan for and provide optimal patient care.
- Anticipates provider needs, including house/outside labs, and preps patient according to the visit type.
- Obtains, verifies, and updates patient information, including health history, medications, and allergies.
- Provides follow up and patient education services to patients.
- Obtains patient vital signs, administers basic wound care and therapeutic treatments (e.g., nebulizer treatment), performs phlebotomy and point of care testing (e.g., INR, HbA1c, etc.).
- Administers injections (intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous) and oral medications. Knowledgeable regarding immunizations as recommended by the CDC as well as administration techniques for pediatric through adult patients.
- Obtains EKGs.
- Assists with minor surgical procedures, includes surgical tray set-up pre/post-surgical care, and suture removal.
- Assists with specimen collection and handling (urine, throat, vaginal, stool, and sputum).
- Cleans exam/procedure room/instruments/and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control requirements.
- Restocks exam/procedure rooms.
- Schedules appointments.
- Manages and updates charts to ensure information is complete and filed appropriately.
- Assists other care teams when needed to assure appropriate MA coverage.
- Assists with peer development and new-hire training.
- Assists with the cancer screening program and other organization or site quality processes.
- Participates in daily care team huddles and weekly nursing team meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 1 year customer service related experience
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Graduate of a certified medical assistant program.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of medical terms and applicable medical equipment.
- Knowledge of medical clinical protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage methods, concepts, and practices.
- Knowledge of medical supplies, equipment, and services ordering and inventory procedures.
- Ability to read patient charts and patient medical histories
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 – $15.35 per hour
