Dialysis Registered Nurse coordinates and manages direct patient care of the chronic hemodialysis patient. The nurse is responsible for ensuring quality care is provided and meets or exceeds CMS and ESRD network standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient supervision and support
- Provide technician supervision and support
- Responsible for collection and analyses of patient data before, during and after dialysis treatment. Including documenting relevant data, modifying treatment plan and notification of patient, clinic manager and physician when appropriate
- Participates in staff orientation and training
- Education of patient and families regarding dialysis care, transplant and end stage kidney disease.
- Education of patients regarding dialysis access, medications and other related conditions
- Communication of patient related and clinic related issues to patient’s physician and to medical director when appropriate
- Reporting, troubleshooting and resolution of adverse events
- Reporting, troubleshooting and resolution of facility, equipment or technology-related problems.
- Maintains appropriate skill level in dialysis therapy, therapy related equipment
- Develops and maintains courteous and professional relationships with staff, vendors, physicians, patients and families with timely communication
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school
- Maintain active Registered Nurse license in the state of Kansas
- Previous hemodialysis experience required
