Chair, Department of Radiology – UNC-Chapel Hill – Chapel Hill, NC

The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a well-qualified leader to serve as Chair for the Department of Radiology. The Department of Radiology is innovative, clinically robust, and excels in its key missions of research, clinical care and education. Departmental faculty lead and collaborate in a wide range of research initiatives resulting in dramatic growth in research funding and a current national rank of 27th in NIH funding. The educational program is diverse across the learner spectrum with engagement of medical students (9 elective classes offered), ACGME residents (11 per year), and fellows (6 subspecialty fellowships). Clinical services are provided or planned at 7 locations conducted by faculty in 8 divisions: abdominal imaging, breast imaging, cardiothoracic imaging, interventional radiology, musculoskeletal imaging, neuroradiology, molecular imaging & therapeutics, and pediatric imaging. The selected individual will lead a diverse group of 83 faculty and 47 staff with oversight of all aspects of the Department, including clinical practice, educational activities, research programs, and fiscal management. In their role, the chair will be responsible for allocation of resources and developing and implementing policies within the Department. The chair will provide leadership and direction for the clinical, educational, research and professional missions of the Department consistent with the strategic plan of the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals/UNC Health.
