The primary purpose of this position is to deliver primary health care to students within the University community. This includes diagnosis and treatment of a broad scope of medical illnesses as well as recognition and referral of psychological and major medical and surgical illnesses. Counseling with regard to health promotion and disease prevention. May supervise, teach and evaluate students and other medical staff. Although the scope of their duties varies, many nurses practitioners work independently prescribe medications and order laboratory tests. All nurse practitioners consult with physicians and other health professionals when needed
