  • JOB SUMMARY

    Works under the direction of the RT Director and performs all duties required to support and coordinate departmental functions. Participates in the department’s goal of meeting the CCH mission, vision and values. Therapists practice according to the rules and regulations of licensure by The State of Wyoming and Respiratory Professional guidelines and the American Association of Respiratory Care

  • PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

    • Assists with the initiation, maintenance and completion of the admission and discharge process.

    • Encourages cost savings for the department and organization.

    • Models excellent customer service.

    • Responsible for documenting in patient’s medical record.

    • Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures

    • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and patient care and relations information.

    • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.

    • Demonstrates effective time management and prioritization skills.

    • Monitors the cardiopulmonary equipment and integrity.

    • Maintains professional standards, completes required continuing education/certificates.

    • Responds to after hour call back.

    • Actively participates in hospital committees and CQI teams.

    • Demonstrates accurate patient care documentation, discharging of the patient and accurate billing.

    • Performs decontamination of equipment/assemble and calibration.

    • Assists with patient and family education.

    • Performs a full range of diagnostic modalities.

    • Collect and evaluate clinical information, monitor patient’s response to treatment modalities.

    • Delivers medication within their scope of practice.

    • Adheres to CCMH policies and procedures.

    • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

    • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.

    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Responds to HMR requests for home ventilator patients which may involve equipment troubleshooting, on-site home visit which could involve invasive and non-invasive patient care.

    • RTs who provide coverage for the Sleep Center must maintain 10 sleep related CEUs per calendar year.

  • JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    • Education: High school graduate, graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory School; credentialed by NBRC or Co ARC

    • Licensure: Required Wyoming Respiratory Care Practitioner License

    • Certifications required: See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.

    • Experience: None.

    • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Hand/eye coordination, legible handwriting, computer skills, able to speak clearly, fine and gross dexterity.

    • Interpersonal Skills: Must relate well with patients, families, hospital staff, physicians, and public.

    • Essential Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires stooping, standing, bending, pushing, and pulling, able to lift 50#.

    • Essential Mental Abilities: Able to comprehend technical medical terminology. Able to input orders, obtain patient information in computer. Able to think quickly, handle various projects simultaneously with attention to accuracy, prioritization, patient request, detail, memory, problem solving, reasoning, ability to memorize routine assignments, computer mnemonics, all with little or no supervision.

    • Essential Sensory Requirements: Corrected vision, hearing to normal range.

    • Exposure to Hazards: OSHA CATEGORY I. TASKS THAT INVOLVE EXPOSURE TO BLOOD, BODY FLUIDS, OR TISSUES. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I Tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I Tasks.

    • Hours of Work: Rotating shifts, or otherwise as dictated by needs of the unit. May include both day, evening, weekend and holiday hours

    • Complete 8 CEU’s per year.

    • Employees working in healthcare facilities have the potential to be exposed to hazardous materials including: Hazardous Chemicals/Drugs, Waste Anesthetic Gases, Radiation, Latex, Biological Hazards, Respiratory Hazards and Ergonomic Hazards. See Hazardous Materials in the Workplace Policy.

    • Must have current ACLS/PALS/NRP within 1 year of employment and maintained throughout the employment period.
