Environmental Service Tech – CarePoint Health Management Associates – Bayonne, NJ

Responsibilities:


EVS Tech / EVS Trash Handler

  • Remove dirty and Clean Linen from centralized locations on Patient floors and bring to its proper designated location for disposal and/or pickup
  • Cleans all outside areas including loading dock areas, and pick up all debris from the outside entrance ways
  • Public areas, lobbies, corridors and restrooms must be fresh at all times. These have an important impact on public perceptions of cleaning and patient care
  • Clean, sanitize, sweep, mop floors, quality floor care using approved products, tools and procedures from patient floors including hallways
  • Always make sure to use floor signs when performing floor care duty’s (hallway’s always leave one side free for walking access and place signs indicating what area to walk on)
  • Pull trash from designated areas throughout the hospital both inside and outside
  • High dusts and clean walls in hallways primarily, but can be designated by shift manager to clean walks in patient rooms with the proper disinfectant for isolation and non isolation rooms using proper isolation precautions /policy and procedures
  • Clean baseboards, corners and edges,
  • Clean Elevator tracks
  • Changes patient curtains and draperies,
  • Auto Scrub, buff floors, scrub floors, wax floors shampoo/extract carpets power wash, wash walls and complete quality floor care by using proper approved floor care products and equipment
  • Remove dirty and Clean Linen from centralized location on Patient floors and bring to its proper designated areas for disposal,
  • Throughout the shift check assigned areas for spills and or special needs
  • Perform thoroughly as per assigned floor care areas: 4- step Burnishing procedure
  • Knock enter patient room and cheerfully greet patients
  • Introduce self as the “ housekeeping floor tech” explain burnishing procedure and request permission to provide service and move furnishings
  • Sweep, mop, burnish and dust mop floor
  • Thank patients and exit room

Supplies, carts, equipment And Janitorial Closets must be tidy and clean at all times
Transport equipment cleaned as per cleaning schedule
Conference room set ups
Complete moves when requested
Daily basis Performs in-between case cleaning in the OR and case cleaning in Vascuar/Cath lab and when requested case cleaning in the OR
Responds to emergency activities such as code calls, disasters drills, fire drills and adheres to policy and procedures
Performs in-between case cleaning in the OR and assists case cleaning in vascular/Cath lab and when requested completes case cleaning in the OR
Perform other tasks as assigned

Linen Handler

  • Weighs clean and dirty linen and follows proper documentation procedures
  • Performs an inventory at the start and end of shift in the linen clean storage area
  • Sets up linen carts as per set par levels
  • Picks up clean and delivers dirty patient curtains to designated location
  • Moves linen carts weighing up to 100 or more pounds
  • Makes periodic rounds on all units to assure proper linen inventory as per set user par levels
  • Monitors and candles deliveries on individual pieces as needed per users need
  • Checks clean linen for any damages/dirt and reports to linen vendor (and keeps proper documentation)
  • Enters all required information into the Linen helper computerized system

Qualifications:


EDUCATION:
High School Graduate or / GED Required

EXPERIENCE: None, although some Hospital experience preferred


LICENSURE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to follow simple directions. Must become familiar with a wide range of cleaning chemicals, must know how to use common household cleaning devices. Able to operate a buffing machine, scrubbing machine carpet care equipment etc.


WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:
Works in a well heated, clean, lighted, and ventilated building. Required to work outdoors. May be exposed to patients with infectious diseases and are at risk if proper policies and procedures are not followed. General hospital environment with the potential Category I Exposure Level (related to blood and or body fluids)


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Stand, walk and reach above head areas for cleaning. Lifts and carries medium to heavy equipment. Occasionally must stoop and stay in a lowered body position.
