Senior Systems/Network Administrator – Warren General Hospital – Warren, PA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Serves as a technical expert in the area of system/ network administration for complex systems. Recommends the design and configuration of local and wide area networks maintaining security requirements. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implanting new upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Assist in regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failure procedures
  • Assists in directing desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Assist in capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Monitor network performance and test for weaknesses
  • Ensure network security and connectivity; managing firewalls and monitoring for all types of security threats. Mitigating and resolving vulnerabilities
  • Fully support, configure, maintain and upgrade corporate customer’s networks and in house servers
  • Ensure systems have been patched/updated for critical and security issues
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, maintenance, and on-call support based on HIS call schedule
  • Design and deploy all network operating systems and LAN/WAN network
  • Design expansion of wiring infrastructure
  • Maintain support documentation for department procedures and user instruction
  • Effectively work with users, physicians, service desk, vendors, and technical service personnel
  • Other duties as assigned

WORK/ EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in related IT field *
