Full Time Editor – Detroit Public Television – Wixom, MI

We are actively pursuing a dynamic and diverse team member to join us in the role of Full Time Editor in Wixom, MI.

The Editor is responsible for the operation and maintenance of post-production equipment. Including but not limited to: Edit Suites, Archival Systems, Closed Captioning Software, and Air Chain Workflow.

  • Work with and manipulate raw camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects to create a finished product ready for broadcast or other distribution methods
  • Edit promos and content interstitials for broadcast
  • Edit 30-min and 60-min instructional education videos for broadcast and digital distribution
  • Work with producers to tell a captivating story that helps capture Detroit Public Television’s vision and mission.
  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Proven ability to edit with the Adobe Creative Suite including experience with Adobe After Effects
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced and high pressure environment
  • Commitment to quality and dedication to a strong team environment
  • Ability to work without direct supervision as well as with a supervising producer
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art broadcast technology
  • Associate’s Degree or post-secondary training in Communications Arts, or related field of study strongly preferred
  • 2-3 years of post-production experience
