Pro Ski Patroller – Marquette Mountain – Marquette, MI

The Pro Ski Patroller position requires providing emergency medical care and rescue services to patrons of
Marquette Mountain. Ski patrollers also work to promote mountain safety by enforcing area policies, clearing debris from the ski runs, maintaining the resort boundaries, and other specialized techniques.
As a guest-focused organization, a crucial part of each team member’s job is to attract and retain guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with dispatch duties
  • Stand by awaiting emergency calls
  • Patrol assigned mountain areas regularly
  • Ensure all trails are properly marked
  • Identify injured, lost, out of control and reckless skiers and snowboarders
  • Identify existing or potential skiing hazards
  • Monitor and report on weather/skiing conditions, skiing traffic, etc.
  • Stop reckless skiers or snowboarders and enforce company skiing safety regulations, including taking appropriate disciplinary action
  • Assist with educational efforts related to safe skiing/riding
  • Perform a variety of trail maintenance tasks
  • check trails for hazards, marking when found
  • missing signs; put up signs and mark hazards
  • pack down and shovel snow
  • put up fences and close trails when necessary
  • Perform trail opening and closing procedures as assigned
  • Search for missing persons and equipment
  • Patrol organized racing activities and other special events
  • Administer emergency care/first aid to injured skiers and snowboarders
  • assess conditions and stabilize patients
  • render appropriate treatment
  • transport to base area
  • Transport uninjured skiers or snowboarders who are having difficulty or have lost or damaged equipment to base area by toboggan or snowmobile.
  • Answer questions and give directions to skiers, snowboarders and hikers
  • Keep all policies and procedures up to date as they relate to MMR
  • Oversee procedures and activities of the volunteer patrollers
  • All other job duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experienced skier/snowboarder on multiple terrains and in all weather conditions
  • CPR/AED Certified
  • OEC Certificate or greater
  • Ability to work as a part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be proactive

Education: High School Diploma and/or GED

Experience and/or Training: Minimum of two years experience

Licenses/Certificates: CPR, AED, OEC certifications

Technology/Equipment: S nowmobile, toboggan
