Float Dental Assistant – Olympia – Neighborcare Health – Seattle, WA

Summary

The Dental Assistant float provides chair side support to the Dentist or Dental Hygienist for scheduled procedures throughout the Neighborcare Health Clinics. They are also responsible for the preparation and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment needed for procedures in support of patient treatment.


This float position will have varied hours per week based on need and will support the Providence at St. Peter Hospital Dental Clinic in Olympia.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide chair side assistance by preparing operatory, including cleaning, disinfection, setting up instruments, materials, and appropriate anesthetic for scheduled procedures; including but not limited to, restorative work, surgical extractions, basic endodontics, scaling and root planing, pediatrics, and removable prosthodontics
  • Place sealants, perform fluoride treatments, coronal polish, and oral hygiene instruction
  • Take digital x-rays; Take and pour impressions; Fabricate provisional crowns
  • Mix materials, place rubber dams, matrices, and wedges
  • Properly pass instruments while maintaining proper aseptic techniques and appropriate safety standards
  • Anticipate and appropriately respond to patients needs under dentist’s supervision
  • Communicate dental procedures and postoperative instructions to patients
  • Practice universal precautions, appropriate infection control, and sterilization processes, as defined by Neighborcare Health’s policies and procedures
  • Enter chart notes and patient information into the Electronic Health and Dental record
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance as assigned
  • Review patient charts prior to patient treatment
  • Maintain and stock necessary supplies in operatory
  • Assist with general supply inventory and stocking
  • Attend and engage in daily team huddle
  • Communicate with dental provider about daily schedule to optimize patient experience
  • Other duties may be assigned by supervisor as needed
  • Schedule appointments for patients in the Practice Management system as needed
  • Prepare the clinic for next day’s work schedule and patient appointments
  • May provide supervision of or training for students who are assigned to NeighborCare Health as part of their professional education

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Completion of accredited dental assistant program

License/Registration/Certification
Required: Have a current Washington State dental assistant license; BLS Certification


Experience


Preferred:
1 year of dental assisting experience
