Landscape Architect II (Critical Position) – City of Phoenix – Phoenix, AZ

Landscape Architect II positions are responsible for performing advanced professional landscape architecture work relating to the planning, design, and review of development projects within the City of Phoenix as it relates to landscape, plant inventory/salvage, hillside, and path and trail requirements. This position will assist the Principal Landscape Architect in reviewing landscape and hillside plans for conformance, providing assistance and clarifications to developers and customers, and coordinating with other departments to ensure landscape requirements and stipulations are implemented and complied with. Other tasks will be assigned such as conduct research and analysis, attend community or development meetings, advise planners and prepare reports.

Currently, a vacany exists is the Planning and Development Department. This recruitment and any interview process as a result of this recruitment may be used by multiple hiring managers and multiple departments throughout the City to fill any related current or future vacancies; other recruitments and appropriate eligible lists may also be considered.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have experience with State and Federal laws and regulations as they pertain to native plants, landscape, water conservation requirements for new development, and knowledge of native and drought-tolerant planting design. Experience reviewing or creating landscape and salvage plans, Hillside development plans including grading, drainage, and retaining wall designs, and public multi-use trail and shared-use path plan plans.

SALARY

$58,906 – $89,544 annually. Candidates may be hired above the minimum depending upon qualifications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture or a closely related field.
  • Three years of landscape architectural experience, with an emphasis in public projects and private developments.
  • The ability to register in the State of Arizona as a Professional Landscape Architect by the end of a 12 month probation period.
