Civil Inspector I (Critical Position) – City of Phoenix – Phoenix, AZ

The Civil Inspector I perform entry level technical and skilled site development, and on-site and off-site civil inspections in the field for public works and residential projects. Compliance is ordered when violations are discovered. Difficult problems may be referred to a supervisor, but employees work independently in the field and are responsible for making decisions requiring technical discretion, sound judgment, and familiarity with a variety of codes, ordinances, and construction methods or problems. Employees in this classification report to a Civil Inspection Field Supervisor, Civil Engineer, or similar supervisor, who provides supervision and training designed to prepare incumbents for promotion to Civil Inspector II.

SALARY

$22.28 (minimum) – $32.73 (maximum) hourly / $46,342- $68,078 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years construction experience working at a skilled journey level in public works, site development, or related building trades OR relevant certification by a model code agency as an inspector or plan reviewer
  • Ability to complete 12 month on the job training program
