Aviation Supervisor II (Critical Position) – City of Phoenix – Phoenix, AZ

The Aviation Supervisor II is responsible for supervising personnel involved in airport maintenance, airport operations, and security enforcement. Duties vary by airport assignment and function.

Positions assigned to Airside and Landside Operations supervise the activities of personnel involved in responding to aircraft and airfield emergencies and providing support with day-to-day operations such as airport construction, airport security, terminal operations, monitoring traffic control, assisting passengers, ground transportation enforcement, supervising parking facilities, and shuttle bus inspections.

Positions assigned the Operations Division positions will also be responsible for providing supervisory coverage for day-to-day operations within Ground Transportation.

Positions assigned to Public Safety and Security include responsibilities for providing supervisory and program coordination for Security and Emergency Preparedness. The Security positions include supervision of personnel conducting airport badging activities as well as coordination of security guard contract oversight, regulatory compliance with respect to construction activities in the restricted areas, adjudication of federally-mandated background checks, and regulatory compliance with respect to the Airport Security Program and associated federally-mandated audits. The Emergency Preparedness positions include supervision of front-line supervisors and Communications Dispatchers in the airport’s 24/7 Command Center.

Positions assigned to the Goodyear and Deer Valley Airport supervise Airport Operations Technicians who perform the duties of airside operations, grounds, airfield maintenance, building and runway maintenance. Additionally, positions provide support with airport construction, airport inspections, and customer service to tenants and citizens.

Positions assigned to the Facilities and Services Division will be responsible for providing supervisory coverage for a multiple function maintenance operation and will be scheduled to cover a seven-day operation. They will be responsible for improving the productivity and efficiency of operations and must exercise independent judgment in reacting to unanticipated situations. They will also oversee maintenance and cleaning contractor activities and will respond to service interruptions that occur as a result of construction activities, damage or equipment failures. In addition, positions assigned to Airfield and Landside Maintenance supervise Airfield Maintenance crews and equipment operators; coordinate maintenance activities during airfield emergencies; inspect maintenance activities on airport parking lots, roads, ramps, and airfields; and assist in laying out work and determining priorities.

We are currently recruiting for an Aviation Supervisor II at Sky Harbor International Airport – Airside Operations.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Knowledge of airport operational and emergency procedures, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 139 Airport regulations and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Part 1542 Airport Security regulations, and general airline operations.
  • Technical knowledge specific to airfield markings, signage, lighting, self-inspection, Part 77 obstruction criteria and airfield construction safety and security requirements.
  • Understanding of supervisor admin duties to include report writing, shift logs, communication, basic IT skills, training and employee evaluation reviews

SALARY

$45,947 – $69,722 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in commercial or military airport activities or a technically specific area,
  • One year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
  • Positions may work irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Positions may work outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust.
