Dental Hygiene Assistant – Family Health/La Clinica – Wautoma, WI

Family Health/La Clinica, a federally qualified health center and is looking for a Dental Hygiene Assistant at our Wautoma, WI location. Family Health/La Clinica was started in the 1960s to provide free health services to migrant farmworkers. This ultimately resulted in Family Health/La Clinica being formally organized in 1972 as a non-profit Wisconsin corporation.Responsibilities of the Dental Hygiene Assistant Position include:

  • Prepare rooms for dental hygiene services, sets up instrument trays, and prepare materials as needed to assist the hygienist during dental hygiene procedures.
  • Seats and dismisses patients when needed. Provide excellent customer service to help ensure a smooth and comfortable visit for the patient.
  • Assists in reviewing and recording medical history with patient/parent, up-dating medical and prescription information, entering this data into the computer and passing it on to providers.
  • Evaluates need for radiographs, exposes, and develops diagnostic x-rays.
  • Performs routine dental operatory cleaning and preparation following OSHA infection control guidelines to maintain a safe environment for all. Sets up the room for the next patient according to the schedule.
  • Assures adequate inventory of necessary supplies and instruments are in their proper places in the hygiene rooms and other areas of the clinic to support that day’s work.
  • Records treatment information in patient records/ dental charting/ perio charting.
  • Assist with dental sealants when requested.
  • Help with referral and pre-authorization forms as needed.
  • Informs Doctors and/or their Dental Assistants when an exam is needed and continues to follow up as needed.
  • Reviews Hygienist schedule and help maintain patient flow throughout the day. Be aware of scheduling changes and prepare accordingly. Maintain communication with the Dental Hygienist. Help to fill cancellations internally and through recall.
  • Call scheduled patient if they are not present at appointment time and communicate with front desk staff as needed.
  • Be aware of what is happening throughout the office and assist where needed to help make the day run smoothly.
  • Review the schedule for the next day. Determine who needs x-rays and updated medical history forms. Communicate any concerns with the hygienists so they can be addressed prior to the appointment.
  • Assists with regular maintenance of the dental equipment and prepares work orders if needed.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere.
  • Attends OSHA training sessions annually and observe policy and procedures at they pertain to OSHA standards and guidelines.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines with regards to patient’s records.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Previous dental assisting or dental experience helpful, but willing to train the right person. Competitive pay and benefits. Bi-lingual candidates (Spanish) are encouraged to apply.

Pay: $15.50 – $20.00 per hour
