Unit Secretary Intensive Care Unit DT – NCH Healthcare System – Naples, FL

Facilitatesand coordinates physician orders, enters all appropriate nursing orders intoPowerChart and maintains paper chart order.

Maintainssupplies, prepares reports and maintains unit records under the direction ofthe charge nurse or department manager.

Assistsand prioritizes non-clinical aspects of admission, discharges and transfers ofpatient, including hospital-to-hospital transfers via ground transport,helicopter and air ambulance.

Maintainspatient records by entering data according to the Healthcare System’s policyand procedures, preserving confidentiality, checking for deficiencies, andproviding forms as necessary. Assesses all forms making sure all are signed andcomplete (labeled correctly)

Answerspatient call lights promptly and courteously, notifying the appropriate caregiver of the patient needs. Possessesthe ability to prioritize patient requests and communicate them to theappropriate resource.

Receivesphysicians, visitors, and ancillary staff, assisting them when possible, includingreferring them to other departments or units within the NCH Healthcare system.

Performserrands as necessary, including obtaining and returning supplies to CentralSupply, Pharmacy, Lab, Dietary, etc.

Demonstratesbasic knowledge of patients currently on unit.

Demonstratespolite and courteous phone etiquette with ability to clearly communicate withothers.

Restocksupplies in the department as needed.

Demonstrateseffective organizational skills and ability to multitask.
