The Registered Nurse independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care and policy and procedure for post open heart/thoracotomy and cardio surgical patients. Provides direct nursing care to patients. Assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participates in unit committee and quality improvement activities. Needs minimal supervision. Patient assessment: use of full data base lab results and progress notes. Monitoring skills: show competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and pulse oximetry. Invasive CVL lines: maintenance, usage, and appropriate care. Safe use, knowledge, and troubleshooting of equipment specific to assigned telemetry area. Coordinate Safe administration of care medication: indications, monitoring, and side effects. Patients on this floor are post open heart/thoracotomy and cardio surgical patients.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
- At least 1yr of recent RN acute care experience is required.
- BSN strongly preferred.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Assoc is required.
