PRN MRI Technologist – Reynolds Memorial Hospital – Glen Dale, WV

Performs MRI procedures according to protocols

established by the radiologists. Performs on a technical level without

constant supervision of technical detail. Performs procedures for both adult

and pediatric patients requiring independent judgment to apply prescribed and

appropriate MRI scanning techniques for diagnosis; assumes responsibility of

designated area and procedures performed; prepares and screens patients and

objects going into the magnet room for magnet safety.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION,

CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.

High School

Diploma or equivalent.

2.

ARRT

Certification: Radiology

3.

ARRT

Certification: Obtain MRI within one

(1) year of hire.

4.

West

Virginia State Licensure.

5.

Obtain

certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The

Explains

procedures at a level the patient will understand. Displays compassion,

empathy and concern for adult, young adult, geriatric, neonate and pediatric

patients.

Provides

appropriate patient care as required. Practices sterile techniques and

universal precautions. Administers first aid and CPR as required.

Assists with administration of contrast media injections and with cases of

adverse reactions to drugs and contrast media.

3.

Maintains

adequate and appropriate records as directed. Responsible for

documentation of clinical and technical history on patient. Responsible

for accurate utilization of the computer to document patient and exam

information and charging functions.

4.

Assures

that all required consent, history and screening forms are completed and

verified by signature of customer and/or legal guardian and/or physician,

and/or technologist prior to performing procedure.

5.

Communicates

with other health care professionals, including patient referral sources,

verbally and in writing.

6.

Effectively

manages time in order to balance patient treatment needs, documentation, and

educational requirements.

7.

Follows

hospital, state and federal guidelines for ensuring safe environment for

workers, patients and public. Maintains and monitors staff compliance

with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety, security,

and infection control. Including privacy, patient confidentiality and

HIPAA.

8.

Complies

with all MRI safety protocols. Ensures patient screening questionnaire

is properly reviewed.

9.

Ensures

the facilities and equipment for patient services are maintained to promote

comfort, efficiency and safety for patients and staff. Documents and

reports malfunctioning equipment immediately to appropriate management

staff.

10.

Prepares

and administers contrast media according to established guidelines and

procedures under the supervision of the Radiologist or Emergency Department

Physician.

11.

Communicates

and interacts with patients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and

hospital staff and the public in general in a manner that demonstrates

professionalism and concern for the individuals’ need(s).

12.

Obtains

work related continuing education on a yearly basis. Utilizes that

knowledge in the development and improvement of staff and treatments,

promoting high standards of Radiology Services as required by WV Board of

Radiology.

13.

Remains

current and responsive to changes in healthcare delivery, standards

established by professional organizations, regulatory and accrediting bodies

and the needs of the organization. Enhances professional growth and

development through participation in educational programs and current

professional literature.

14.

Actively

participates in in-services, medical conferences, staff meetings, continuing

education courses, rehab team meetings, clinics, hospital wide committees and

other meetings as needed or required.

15.

Maintains

and applies working knowledge of Hospital and Radiology information

systems. Maintains and applies working knowledge of Picture Archive and

Communication (PACS) system.

16.

Assists

in the Clinical Education and training of Radiologic Technology Students.

17.

Participates

in Quality initiatives to help assess and improve the services provided and

compliance with regulatory requirements. Reports results to appropriate

administrative levels.
