POSITION OVERVIEW:

Emergency Preparedness Manager (Management Level)

Section: BT/MRC

Workdays & Hours M-F 8am-4:45pm 4 days/week

Description of Duties/Essential Functions

Candidate should have a working knowledge of emergency preparedness and first responder training. Individual will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring Douglas County Health Department’s Emergency Management Program and Medical Reserve Corps program.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field strongly preferred. Years of successful experience in combination with relevant courses may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree (e.g. Associate’s Degree, FEMA Emergency Management Institute courses.

Experience

Typically five (5) years’ experience in Emergency Management, especially in a healthcare environment.

Trained in Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800. Experience in developing and presenting educational programs for large groups.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) with a demonstrated high level of self-discipline. Candidate must be a motivated, organized, self-starter capable of team building and problem solving with creativity, integrity, and initiative.

Certificate/License/Registration

Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) desired. Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) desired. All Certifications and Licenses required for this position must be current and kept current as a condition of continued employment.
