Information Specialist I – Temporary (Duluth) – St. Louis County, MN – Duluth, MN

An employee in this class performs standardized information processing and customer service work, applying well defined methods, procedures, practices, and instructions to a pattern of routine and related tasks. Duties include providing familiar facts and information and explaining the routine, well defined procedures of the department to the public; and processing familiar information or data from readily available and clearly defined sources. To accomplish the prescribed work objective, the employee exercises discretion in selecting the appropriate sources of information, determining the type of transactions processed, and selecting the tools and materials used Work is performed under the direction of designated lead worker or supervisory staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

  • Ability to type from clear copy at a rate of 40 w.p.m./net.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate personal computer based systems.
  • Proficiency, as defined by the Civil Service Commission, in operating word processing software.


COMPUTERIZED WRITTEN ASSESSMENT (100% of scoring process):

After submitting an application, applicants will receive a notification to schedule their computerized written assessment via their candidate profile. Virtual and in person testing will be offered on the pre-determined dates listed in your candidate profile.Once applicants have logged in and scheduled their assessment another notification will be sent confirming your assessment date and time along with the test link and Webex meeting invite.

To participate in the online computerized written assessment, you must have readily available picture identification, lap top or desktop computer, web cam and microphone. (Tablets are not compatible with this program) Calculators, digital cameras and other communication devices containing calculator functions are NOT permitted. Please allow 3-1/2 hours for this assessment.

October 2, 2020 – Computerized written assessment must be completed

Week of October 12, 2020 – Interviews to be conducted
