JVS is one of the largest nonprofit workforce development agencies in Boston. This April, JVS is offering a Free Training and Certification program to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician with guaranteed job placement services. You may have the chance to work in a full time position as a Pharmacy Technician for South Shore Hospital.
Program Overview:
• Training Dates: April 22, 2019 to July 12, 2019
• Length of Training: 12 weeks, full-time
• Training Schedule: 4 days Mon to Fri (except Wednesday) 9am – 3pm, plus 10 hour externship every week
• This is not a paid training program, but it is a free program
• Students will prepare to pass the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam
Students will build an understanding of the responsibilities required of a Pharmacy Technician and will take classes in:
• Pharmacy Mathematics
• Pharmacokinetics
• Pharmacy Law
• Pharmacy Basics
• Professional Communication and Development
Job Placement:
• Select candidates will be guaranteed full-time employment as a Pharmacy Technician at South Shore Hospital upon successful completion of the training program
• Rate of Pay: $16.00/hour to start
• Hours: Full time, benefited position including Medical, Vision, and Dental
• Shifts: Open availability is best. Typical shifts include 6:30am-3pm, 2:30pm-11pm, and 8:30am-4:30pm. You must be able to work on weekends
Eligibility and Ideal Candidates:
• Must have access to a car to work for South Shore Hospital due to its location in Weymouth, MA and inaccessibility to public transportation at night
• Must have a desire to work as a Pharmacy Technician for South Shore Hospital
• Fluent or Strong English skills
• HS Diploma or equivalent required, and must be 18+ years
• All applicants will be required to participate in a CORI, background and drug screening
• Potential candidates must commit to attend all classes and externship shifts
• Be a good listener who is also detail oriented
• Eager to seek growth opportunities and have a strong work ethic
