Mental health professional, LPC, LCPC, interns (Palatine)

Lotus Wellness Center, www.lotuswellnesscenter.com, is a holistic wellness center in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. We focus on integrating the mind, body, and spirit by offering mental health counseling, mindfulness meditation, hypnotherapy, stress reduction techniques, yoga therapy and other somatic work, weight loss, and chiropractic care.

We are looking for interns in masters level programs and licensed LPC/LCPCs to join our team

Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited MA/ Doctorate level program. An interest in working with the substance abuse population or child/adolescent/family therapy is a plus. The intern position is unpaid; must be enrolled in a degree program seeking academic credit. The other positions are paid and the details will be discussed in person.

Desirable Skills:

* Bi-lingual, English / Spanish / other is a plus

A minimum of 10 hours per week is required. A typical 10 hour commitment for an intern looks like this:

Schedule appointments and help maintain the “cancellation list” and “emergency” appointment openings.
Create charts (electronically and paper), mail initial paperwork after scheduling appointments, and complete reminder calls before initial appointments for new clients.
Learn about insurance and billing for mental health services.
Assist with chart compilation and resource gathering for clients.
Develop and implement treatment plans.
Assess need within the community for mental health awareness.
Organize talks and workshops within and for the community (schools and other settings).
Lead group at least once a week (mindfulness, meditation, stress reduction, body awareness, etc).
Assist team in creating marketing material to increase outreach.
Social networking – create posts, blogs, and offer creative input.
Complete intake assessments (20-30 minute phone interviews) to gather background information, clarify reason for referral and services being sought, conduct brief risk assessment and provide referrals if necessary, and verify eligibility for payment options.
Flexible schedule; some work can be conducted remotely
Interns who have completed practicum in their program will also have clinical opportunities:

Provide individual, group and family counseling
Apply evidence-based practices to support clients with co-occurring conditions
Perform intake interviews & assessments
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records including electronic health records
Supervision with the Clinical Director
Caseload review and case presentation
Discussion of clinical rapport, assessment, treatment plans, interventions and tools
Discussion of themes of interest to associates including innovative treatment modalities and integrative health and well being modalities
