Program Assistant/Skills Instructor, Residential Program (Methuen or Salisbury)

Fidelity House Human Services is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families. We are proud to offer 20 community residences throughout Lawrence, Methuen, Haverhill, Georgetown and Andover along with specialized services across 68 cities and towns in Northeastern Massachusetts.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent.
Two years experience in Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities or CNA.
Medication Administration Program (MAP) Certification preferred but must be certifiable.
Valid driver’s license with 5 years or more driving experience.
Direct Care experience preferred
Ability to model and teach daily living skills
Organizational and Effective communication skills
Safety Care certifiable

KEY ACTIVITIES:

Collaborate and assist Program Director in the successful management of the Program, including:
Complete required forms on medical, behavioral and community goals from their Individual Support Plan (ISP) and help individuals in their day-to-day life to achieve their goals.
Assist and provide safety and personal care to individuals.
Assist and guide staff members to implement behavior support plans.
Assist and guide each individual in developing skills in all areas of community living. Model and teach these behaviors to the staff team.
Organize and monitor arrangements of medical and dental care in conjunction with the Program Director.
Organize, monitor and order/receive medication supplies as needed.
Monitor and assist staff with meeting nutrition goals and menu planning, including shopping and preparation, in conjunction with the Program Director.
Participate in the maintenance of the home ensuring a safe, comfortable and supportive environment.
Assist and provide safety and personal care to individuals.
Give out medicine to individuals, as needed.
Communicate with other staff through reports and logs.
Help individuals with community and recreational activities.
Assist in the hiring and new orientation of staff.
Attend to minor maintenance needs.
Attend mandatory training including, but not limited to:
New Employee Orientation
First Aid/CPR Training
Medication Certification
OSHA Training
Attend, as specified by the Program Director, specific training in the management of orthotic devices, adaptive equipment, safe transfers/body mechanics, as needed, to serve individual residents.
Help and teach money management including simple budgeting and transactions.
Provide constant supervision of individuals with other staff.
Comply with all applicable statutes, ordinances, policies, regulations and guidelines of Fidelity House and our contracting agency.
Other duties as assigned by Program Director.

Essential Physical Requirements:

The ability to move independently throughout a wide range of environments, some of which may not be wheelchair or otherwise handicapped accessible, is required. Independent transportation to locations that may not be served by public transportation may be necessary.
