Healthcare Operations & Process Improvement Lead

Responsibilities 

Responsible for supporting organizational performance improvement and workflow standardization for office-based practices in collaboration with Divisional management teams. The individual will assist in developing and preparing materials for use in process improvement, identifying root causes of variation, coordinating with practice management and team participants, leading instruction on the use of process improvement tools, facilitating team decisions, developing implementation action plans, and conducting follow-up. The individual will also provide general operational support to all office-based practices for both maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric cardiology and other specialties as needed from a national standpoint.

  • Assist in establishing and implementing standardized processes/workflows, process improvements and best practices across office-based practices and monitor ongoing compliance with established policies and core procedures through use of metrics and reporting tools.
  • Review ongoing financial and operational metrics of office-based practices for benchmarking/comparison among practices and to identify areas that need focused attention for process improvement to enhance performance and outcomes.
  • Seek and evaluate process improvement and Lean Enterprise information, materials, and methods to match specific organizational needs as outlined by management, and adapt them to use in the execution of process improvement.
  • Provide follow-up to monitor the progress of planned improvement implementation to assure timely action, appropriate management support, and achievement of expected benefits. Uses appropriate measurement, analysis and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements.
  • Be organizational leader in striving for process excellence, process documentation and process compliance.
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Systems on timeline and specific rollout and implementation plans for all office-based systems including but not limited to EHR, PACS, billing and scanning.
  • Assist Director of Operations and Process Improvement in approval/investigation phase of new systems projects beneficial to office-based practices and track the financial performance of those projects upon implementation
  • Assist and support Clinical Director of Operations for maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric cardiology on projects as required.
  • Work with both specialty’s Medical Directors/Advisory Committees on projects and needs for specific specialty.
  • Responsible for maintaining and facilitating formalized orientation program for new office-based Practice Managers as well as developing ongoing training program for Practice Managers.
  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance of national vendor contracts and relationships.
  • Work with Business Development and Integration on all new office-based acquisitions both prior to and post acquisition.
  • Work with Clinical Systems on all systems development projects and new functionality required by the office-based practices
  • Responsible for planning/implementing annual PM meeting and MDM specialty breakout meeting
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  • At least 50% travel required

Qualifications 

Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four-to-ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior process improvement experience in an ambulatory healthcare environment required. 
Healthcare operations experience desired.
50-75% travel required.
