Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) $24-28 per hour! (Escondido)

OVERVIEW: Interfaith Community Services was founded in 1979 by a handful of diverse faith communities to address the needs of low-income, homeless and under-served people in North San Diego County. Interfaith offers programs through North San Diego County, from the coastal City of Oceanside, to the inland communities south and east of our Escondido headquarters. With more than 300 member faith centers and 130 dedicated staff, Interfaith serviced more than 16,000 unique individuals last year alone.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: This position provides support to address the medical needs of clients admitted into our withdrawal management (detox) program. Working within a comprehensive team of skilled professionals this position will engage with the Recovery and Wellness Center (RWC) Care Team as the client progresses through withdrawal management.

• Conduct rounds at ½ hour intervals, checks vital signs, and evaluates patient progress
• Utilize CIWA protocols
• Conduct medication management with each patient, following RWC medication policy and procedures
• Assist patients as needed while in withdrawal management
• Promote patients’ self-determination by establishing individual care goals and teaching patients to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills
• Educate patients on medical conditions and treatment compliance, including diet and smoking cessation
• Assist with trainings and educate staff and patients on various medical-related topics
• Participate in regular administrative and patient case file review meetings
• Communicate medical concerns or special needs related patients’ physical health to RWC team
• Maintain an active file on all clients including the documentation of vital signs, medication logs, and progress notes
• Provide guidance to RWC team regarding clients
• Ensure the confidentiality of patient information and health records
• All other duties assigned by supervisor

• Must be currently licensed by the State of California as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
• 1+ years nursing experience required
• Knowledge of alcohol and other drug recovery field preferred
• Experience working with detox clients, behavioral health, and homeless populations preferred

• Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the agency’s insurance carrier’s standards
• Must successfully pass a criminal background and exclusion/disbarment check
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical, tuberculosis test, and drug screen
