PREFERRED HOME CARE OF FLORIDA is seeking an experienced Psych Registered Nurse (RN) – PER DIEM (PRN)

We are a growing home health agency in need of Per Diem (PRN) experienced Psychiatric Nursing professionals. As part of our exceptional team of Clinicians you will provide Behavioral Nursing services to our patients in the comfort of their home. Educational Requirements -The Licensed RN must have one of the following credentials:

  • A Master’s degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing
  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing with one year of experience in an active treatment unit in a psychiatric or mental health hospital or outpatient clinic
  • A diploma or associate degree with two years of experience in an active treatment unit in a psychiatric or mental health hospital or outpatient clinic.

As a psychiatric registered nurse in home health, you have a unique opportunity to provide one on one, psychiatric/behavioral health and skilled nursing care and treatment to patients in their home. Your primary work will include collaboration with mental health professionals including psychiatrists and psychologists to create a home care plan supporting an individual and their caregivers coping with dementia, Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, anxiety, grief, depression and other psychiatric conditions and within the home setting.


  • Provide admission, case management, and follow-up skilled nursing visits for behavioral home health patients.
  • Assisting in identifying and effectively addressing the specific needs of the geriatric patient suffering from dementia, depression, and other psychoses,
  • Completing assessments to determine nursing needs
  • Developing a plan of care
  • Coordinate appropriate care, encompassing various personnel (such as PT, OT, HHA).
  • Monitor the appropriate completion of documentation by home health aides/personal care workers as part of the supervisory/leadership responsibility.
  • Discharge patients after consultation with the physician and Clinical Manager, preparing and completing needed clinical documentation.
  • Prepare appropriate medical documentation on all patients, including any case conferences, patient contacts, medication order changes, re-certifications, progress updates, and care plan changes. Prepare visit/shift reports, updates/summarizes patient records, and confers with other health care disciplines in providing optimum patient care.
  • Counseling the patient and family in meeting nursing and psychiatric related needs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
