Project Engineer – SCST, Inc. – Chicago, IL

What You Will Be Doing

At SCST, our Project Engineers earns and maintains client satisfaction by managing and executing geotechnical field investigations and construction materials testing projects. By supporting a wide range of geotechnical projects, the Project Engineer embodies our client-focused philosophy and our commitment to delivering high quality work. This role is comprised of varied geotechnical engineering decisions, technical and financial management, and geotechnical field work. Therefore, successful candidates must also have a passion getting in the dirt and judging its behavior!


Other Functions

  • Interacting with clients, stakeholders, and contractors during various phases of a project
  • Managing multiple projects which include developing project schedules, permitting, exploration programs, technical analysis modeling and calculations, report preparation, and project financial management
  • Preparing written reports and cost proposals
  • Preparing change orders and budget notifications
  • Organizing staff on various client tasks in accordance with proposed scope
  • Preparing reports of material laboratory tests for engineer’s signature
  • Reviewing field dailies for conformance with project and company standards and respond to reports of nonconformance
  • Authorizing, request and review interim and verified reports upon client’s request


Other Functions

  • Develops new techniques and/or improved processes
  • Leads project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments
  • Represents the organization in communications and conferences pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments


What You Need for this Position

  • Bachelors of Science or Masters in Civil Engineering
  • 3 to 5 Years of experience in geotechnical related field
  • A path towards a PE license with a GE License goal
  • Strong fundamentals in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Strong independent work ethic and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient using Microsoft word and Excel, Adobe or Bluebeam
