We are looking for an exceptional individual to step into a high-responsibility position that will be vacated by the retirement of our current excellent Manager/Biller/Executive Secretary. We are a solo private practice specializing in urology (surgery of the urinary tract.) We do consultations, office visits and minor procedures in the office. This position is based in our MELROSE office. We use MedFx for scheduling and billing, EPIC as our EMR and QuickBooks for our financials. We will train you on MedFx, EPIC and QB if you have used different systems.
Candidates must have experience in management of a medical office and in medical billing. Professionalism, leadership, confidence, politeness, maturity and coolness under pressure are qualities that we seek. Compulsive attention to detail and firmness in dealing with insurance companies are musts.
The Practice Manager part of the job involves organizing and being a resource for four employees, including two secretary / receptionists, a medical assistant and an assistant biller. The Manager is responsible for interactions with the bookkeeper, accountant, collections, maintenance, pharma reps, venders et cetera. The Manager keeps track of clerical and medical-related inventory in the office and in ordering and paying invoices. The Manager is the HIPAA compliance officer and OSHA safety officer and will be responsible for supervising the conduct of the employees, including appearance, attendance and maintaining a workplace free of harassment of any kind. The Manager must be comfortable with filling in at the front desk during employee vacations or other absences.
The Medical Biller part of the job involves being responsible for billing all visits, consultation and procedures through MedFx, posting payments, sending bills and following up on collections. The Biller will supervise and be a resource for the assistant biller. The Biller is responsible for seeing that all patients who need referrals or precertification for surgery have them.
The Executive Secretary part of the job includes assisting the Physician to keep the day smooth for him, by taking care of things that come up, both major and minor, such as maintaining his credentialing file, visiting the post office, making sure there is coffee and cream, keeping the office neat and orderly and so on. Duties may include correspondence and interacting with other medical offices and with the hospital. This part of the job also involves phone and mail correspondence with patients who are having surgery.
Compensation and benefits. A very welcome and competitive wage based on experience will be offered, along with regular raises. Contribution to the retirement Profit-Sharing-Plan is automatic. 401-K with a very generous matching policy is offered. Hours are convenient for you. (Our current manager works 40 hours over 4 days. We would consider candidates who wish to work fewer hours.)
