Qualifications for Habilitation Specialist are as follows:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- One year experience in moderate, severe, profound developmental disabilities population
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Must have or be eligible for Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional designation
- CPR and First aid certification required
- Must have current Ohio drivers license and be eligible for auto insurance in order to drive company vehicles
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops, monitors and implements habilitation goals for assigned residents
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and functions as an active team member
- Instructs Unit Managers and Direct Care staff in proper programming methods, provides additional training as needed or as changes occur
- Collects relevant data; prepares and maintains required records and notes on assigned residents
- Coordinates in-building programs with out-of-building programs to ensure consistency
