CT/ Xray Tech – Lake Health – Beachwood, OH

Position Summary: The CT Scan Technologist reports to the Manager of Radiology and operates CT Scan equipment to produce imaging of the body for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, as directed by the radiologist. Positions patient for appropriate imaging following established protocols. Explains procedures to the patient and or family to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Produces quality imaging through proper positioning and scanner parameters. Practices radiation protection techniques to maintain the safety of the patient, family, caregivers and self.

Essential Job functions: Perform CT Scan testing on inpatients, outpatients and Emergency Department patients following physician orders, on the type of test administered, following established policies, protocols and standards. Maintains image quality within standards in the performance of all testing.

Ensure safe administration of medications and contrast, following all standards, policies and procedures.

Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, by meeting their physical and emotional needs to complete testing/care in a safe manner.

Complete all necessary documentation and image distribution by following established protocols and procedures to maintain the integrity of the patient medical record, written and electronic.

Ensure the safety of patients, families, workers and physicians by following the ALARA principles and all safety screening requirements, protocols and procedures.

Maintains quality standards through the performance of all quality control procedures. Recognize, communicate, correct and/or escalate any conditions that may impact the quality of care provided.

Supports appropriate billing through order verification, timely completion of RIS functions, complies with all policies and procedures required for precertification.

Complies with all policies, procedures and standards in the performance of invasive procedures, includes patient consent, universal protocol, sterile technique, procedure performance, specimen handling and post procedure education.

Demonstrate consistent knowledge of information systems procedures and protocols in order to accurately and efficiently process patients within the system.

Change Management: Actively participate and contribute to diagnostic imaging services performance improvement initiatives and team member engagement activities. Has the ability to alter practice in the ever-changing healthcare environment.

Education and Experience: Education High School Diploma/GED — Associates PreferredLicense/Certification: ODH radiographer license; Registered Radiologic Technologist ( ARRT) RT (R) required. Preferred radiologic technologist (ARRT) RT (R) (CT)- certification in CT. The CT certification not required for non reg job codes – it is required for registered > ALL require ARRT and ODH. BLS Certification required.Experience: None
