Food Service Worker/Dishwasher – Veterans Canteen Service – Brooklyn, NY

The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) located at the Brooklyn, NY, VA Medical Center is seeking Full Time or Part-time Food Service Workers to provide quality service to our nation’s veterans.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The Food Service Worker/Dishwasher performs a variety of food service duties in support of VCS food production services and will:

• wash pots, pans, trays based on assigned procedures. ensure complete cleanliness and sanitation.
• wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, equipments, and food prep surfaces.
• keep dishes area orderly and in compliance with safety standards.
• sweep and mop kitchen floors to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
• help load and unload supplies.
• remove trash and clean out garbage cans.
• maintain temperatures and chemical levels as outlined by provided standards.
• assist with the preparation, presentation and subsequent serving of prepared food items.
• performs other duties as assigned.

Must be able to read and interpret instructions and perform basic arithmetic used in food preparation.

Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year experience (preferred but willing to train)
• Ability to work evenings and weekends
