HIM Director

The Director of Health Information Management Services is responsible for directing the activities of the Health Information Management Services Department in the management and maintenance of all patient medical record information, implements new technologies to increase productivity and workflow, maintaining the integrity of the legal medical record, ensuring compliance will all state and federal laws, rules/regulations of licensing agencies and within Joint Commission standards for the quality and privacy of patient care documentation.
Responsible for ensuring that the coding operations team consistently meets accuracy and productivity standards.

Requirements/Education
Bachelors Degree required. Must be a graduate of an HIM program with successful completion of
the accreditation exam and certification through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Manager (RHIA).
Active membership in the American Health Information Management Association required. Five (5) years HIM management experience required, preferably in an acute care hospital setting.
Experience with ambulatory surgery and clinic services preferred. Practical experience using an electronic medical record system.
Preferably EPIC. Possess knowledge and understanding of applicable State, Federal and local laws, rules, regulations relating to patient health information.
Coding experience helpful with knowledge of CMS rules/regulations desired. Knowledge of the revenue cycle process is preferred.
